Origin of Noisette Name

What is the origin of the word “Noisette”? The word comes from the 18th century botanist Phillipe Noisette. He came to Charleston from France via Haiti in the early 1800’s. Distinguished horticulturalists made up his family in France. Shortly after settling into the Charleston area, the Blush Noisette rose was born. The Noisette farm on the outskirts of Charleston also provided the location for his gardens. Today, the Noisette Creek, Company and Foundation bare his name. Now you know!
